What is with the GOAT?
People always ask why us Izards call ourselves GOATS? Not because we are the greatest of all time, although we like to think so. Izard is a chamois that inhabits the Pyrenees. AKA – A Mountain Goat!
The Izard name was introduced by the Normans in England and is composed of the elements īs 'ice' + 'strife', 'battle'. So, we like to compete. That is obvious for anyone that knows us.
This is why my sister, Stephanie created all of her restaurants with a goat theme. Brilliant. She is a fabulous, famous, bad ass chef.
GOATS are creative
I grew up in a very creative family. Steph was in the kitchen, I was on an easel. My Dad and my grandfather taught me all about art and all the different mediums. Every December, my Dad took me to NYC to spend hours at The Met. My grandfather painted his watercolors with me by our creek.
I had the amazing experience of going to art school in Firenze, Italia. My favorite place. Art was everywhere - even the door handles were crafted. I was in heaven.
After school, I became a creative director and marketing director. I have worked in advertising for 25 years. I love it. I always jumped with excitement when I got the budget to do a photo shoot. But I really wanted to take my own photos in my own weird way. So, 20 years ago I bought some flowers and started taking pictures. Recently, I picked that hobby up again and have been taking pictures whenever I see something that may have beauty to share.
